Laura Callaghan is an Irish illustrator based in South East London. She graduated with an MA in Illustration from Kingston University in 2010. Her work is hand drawn using a mixture of watercolour, indian ink and isograph pen.
Her girls, dressed with excessive prints, burn tickets, look vain in the mirror, a selfie is made while eating, they look with apathy the disorder in her room, living saturated with whims and almost always looking bored and nuisance.
There are no empty spaces, perspectives and colors are flat. She works hand and uses watercolors, ink and stylus, analogue materials to achieve aesthetic.
She uses the code of superficiality, but not an airhead, each work emerges a critical background. The stories of comics that has recently begun to draw are an effective way to check how it is handled with parody.
