Tips for Time Management

Hi everyone! How are you?

I have been working a lot, and what has helped me a lot to not become crazy is correctly managing my time. That way I feel I have time for everything (or almost everything) but achieving many of my goals is already a relief!

As illustrators, time is both our friend and our foe. We've got deadlines to meet, clients to impress, and a life to live outside of our drawing tablets. So here are a few tips I've picked up along the way:

Plan your day!

I know, I know, planning sounds about as fun as watching paint dry, but trust me, it's a game-changer. Take a few minutes each morning to jot down what you need to accomplish that day. Break it into manageable chunks, and don't forget to schedule in some well-deserved doodle breaks.

Prioritize like a Pro

Not all tasks are created equal. Figure out what's urgent, what's important, and what can wait until later. Knock out the big stuff first, then tackle the smaller tasks like a boss.

Embrace the Pomodoro Technique

I found this technique on the internet; it's a time management technique that's as simple as it is effective. Set a timer for 25 minutes, work like crazy, then take a 5-minute break. Rinse and repeat. Before you know it, you'll be crushing your to-do list like nobody's business.

Learn to say No:)

As artists, we're often asked to do a million things at once. But here's the thing: we're not superheroes (well, most of us aren't). Learn to say no to projects that don't light your creative fire or that you simply don't have time for. Your sanity will thank you.

Find your flow

We all have times when our creative minds are super productive, and times when they're just not. Figure out when you're at your creative peak and schedule your most important work during those times. Save the mindless tasks for when you're feeling less inspired.

Alright, that's enough time management talk for now. But hey, if you're hungry for more tips, drop me a comment below! And while you're at it, here are a few other topics I've got up my sleeve for future blog posts:

Finding Inspiration in Unexpected Places: Sometimes, the best ideas come from the most unlikely sources. Let's talk about where to find inspiration when you're feeling stuck in a creative rut.

The Art of Self-Promotion: As artists, promoting ourselves can feel a bit icky. But it doesn't have to be! Let's chat about how to shamelessly (yet tastefully) promote your work without feeling like a used car salesman.

So, what do you think? Any topics you would like to learn more about? Let me know, and I'll do my best to make it happen! Until next time, keep creating and never stop chasing those creative dreams! 🎨
